Extension Policy for
Instructors:
Course Duration
Flexible Learning students
are given 16 weeks to complete the course and
automatically granted an additional 16 weeks along with a gradeof "H" (Hold), resulting in a total of 32
weeks to complete the course. If the course is not completed in 32 weeks,
an "E" grade is automatically posted.
Extension:
If the student requests an extension and has made significant
academic progress of approximately 50% or more completion of the course, the instructor may grant one extension. Please refer the student to the Flexible Learning/Correspondence Study Office to collect the $100 extension fee and change the "E"
grade to an "I" (incomplete), giving the student a total of 48 weeks.
Additional Time for Extenuating Circumstances:
If there are extenuating circumstances (e.g., medical) preventing the student from completing the course in 48 weeks, the student must contact DCE - Flexible Learning to request additional time, and must supply documentation of the circumstance preventing completion of the course.
Notifications:
Please note that students receive constant notifications at regular intervals (i.e., 1-day, 7-day, 4-week, 8-week, 16-week grade report, and these letters repeat up to the 32-week grade report) to remind them to make progress in their distance learning course.
