Active Military and Veteran Students

Consider enrolling in a distance education course. It’s convenient and easy!

  • The course comes to you.
  • Both college courses and professional programs are available.
  • Online courses and print-format courses are available.
  • Registration is an easy one-step process.
  • Textbook purchase is available at the time of registration and at great prices.
  • There is extra time to complete the course at your own pace.

Whether you are on active duty, returning from an overseas assignment, in the National Guard or Army Reserves, or retired from the military, you might be interested in taking a distance education course:

  • before applying for a degree program,
  • before or as part of a workforce development program,
  • to help with the transition to civilian life, or
  • to see if taking college courses is right for you.

Credit Courses

The University of Florida’s Division of Continuing Education is approved to offer credit courses through the Defense Activity for Nontraditional Education Support (DANTES) program. See the Flexible Learning College Catalog for our credit course offerings. For credit course enrollment certification, please contact the UF Registrar Services for VA Education Programs to obtain a tuition deferral before registering for a course. Please note: active military members need to submit a request for tuition assistance to their commanding officer, and consult with an Education Service Officer for guidance on completing the necessary paperwork. Once the approval is finalized and the tuition deferral is processed by our office, you can register for the course.

Non-credit Courses

Two Flexible Learning professional programs are approved for veteran training:

Enrollment certification for these non-credit courses is provided by the Flexible Learning Office.
